A curious thought on humankind.

If humankind was to continue its rate of expansion, how long would it take for us to completely deplete our ability to grow food, and have drinkable water?  Consider that we have gone from a billion to six billion in such a short span of time, and that we continue to use scarce resources at an ever increasing pace… How long does man, and all his knowledge, have before he eats himself to death?  Will we resort to Soylent Green solutions? What happens when all the graves that there ever were and will be are filled? Where does all this human consumption and waste lead?  Consider the answers carefully my friends, as our gene pool thins and our collective knowledge lessens and lessens we seldom think ahead at the consequences…  Perhaps it would be best if we began to limit who can have children.  Take the right away from those who are incapable of raising productive citizens, or those who use more resources than they should by having 12 kids and living on welfare… Perhaps it is time now for someone to take charge, set rules, and be done with this petty nonsense…

A human being, of average height and weight, is worth less than four dollars in raw materials, and yet throughout its life will consume and use thousands upon thousands of dollars in raw materials.  Wasted humans means wasted materials - wouldn’t it be best to emasculate rapists, serial killers, and the like - ensuring their poor genetic material never be passed on and made into a waste of resources?  Of course I am taking the emotional aspect out of human life - but by preventing life to happen, preventing it through sterilization will prevent the needless abortions and needless adoptions… The gene pool will either be strengthened by using a system such as this - or we will enter a period of dysgenics in which all mankind will suffer from inferior progeny.

Think about it - we no longer survive in an environment that is overtly hostile, the weak live and the meek have inherited the earth.  We stopped evolving thousands of years ago - when we started taking care of the ill and the sick, when we started caring for those with inferior traits and let them pass it on.  Once we did so we ended evolution and remained stable.  However our society evolved, our culture evolved, our tools evolved - but we have not.  We are still using 300,000 year old brain technology to do all that we do today -  a testament to our ability to adapt.  However, as more and more are allowed to have progeny, more and more defects are passed on, in effect we are becoming a species of undesirable misfits with defects ranging from stupidity and poor comprehension to absolute lunacy, serial killings, rapists, and pedophiles - yet some how a strange kind of social moral says “You cannot restrict the reproductive rights of anyone.”

To the contrary, I state that we have the right to restrict the deranged from passing on bad genetic codes.  I am not saying we can breed out all mental defect, all poor traits, nor should we.  However I am saying that people who are this defective and demented should be stripped of their abilities to produce a progeny, and to raise their progeny.  Half is in the genes, half is in the environment - eliminate both abilities of the person and you solve both the problems.  Of course all sterilizations should be reversible - I would not ever permanently revoke the right except in the cases of those who commit heinous crimes - however I believe there needs to be a standard, and we need to act quickly if we are to salvage a gene pool worth saving.  Then again, what do I know - I’m only human.
