Looks like I forgot to post much.  All 10 spiders are fine, babies are growing slowly as expected, and that is about it.  Currently in college now, so most of my time is taken up by coursework.

I found this on a camera, it is the definitive final picture I had of my boo.

He was the best dog I ever had, even though his teeth were misaligned, even though he had two knee blowouts, and even though loud noises scared him.  We had a massive thunderstorm tonight\last night, and after it passed he seemed different.  He threw up, and then after having a normal poo, started throwing up more.  Around 11pm I tried to settle him in for bed, and we laid down.  I let him sleep on my bed and I pet him for about an hour, hoping he would sleep it off (he was prone to being really nervous after thunderstorms, and this occasion did not seem too much different except the lethargy).  However he began to hack up again, so I ran to the phone and called the ER vet.  I heard him hack once more before hanging up, and when I found him… he was panting, and his tongue was lolled out.  I admit that I broke the law, and I could give a rats ass.  I sped to the Emergency Vet, I ran with him in my arms to the door, but it was too late for my little Boo.  Spot passed away on the ride there.

I miss him, he hasn’t been gone but two hours, but I miss him so.  He was only 5, he was active, healthy, his weight was perfect, his adorable goofy head as messed up as ever with the crooked tooth.  His constant shedding and my battle to control it was still ongoing… and then he’s gone.  Just like that, in less than five hours, he’s gone.  I can’t think of what else to say.

In light of his death being possibly from an undiagnosed heart ailment, only one thing can sum up what I would like to say to him…

I miss him so very much.  I cannot fathom my life without my puppy.

First off, it is no frills, and almost spartan compared to the over-bloated piles of ad-washed garbage I have seen, and it has just about any tool anyone would need… unless you really want all that extra garbage about how CDs look. I could understand it if you had a product – but even then it still is questionable why you cannot just make a label in a different program and print it.

Anyways, when looked at it is very small, sleek, and quick to run. It doesn’t freeze, it doesn’t choke on the information, and to compare it to another application, it is like a professional runner next to a flabby, over-stuffed lard-bag who hasn’t gotten up off his couch in nearly a year (Nero).

Why do I care so much to make a post? Because until now no other application, save for the “express” version of Nero, has come close to being exactly what I want and need. InfraRecorder can also go on a pen drive with Portableapps, and I find that very useful (as when I do repair a machine I would much rather leave nearly zero imprints on it, so not installing something and still being able to burn documents that might be lost is extremely useful).

Now, I know that InfraRecorder doesn’t come with the ability to burn MP3s, however the add-on is easy to find from their site, and is a separate download. All you do is unzip that one irc file into the codec folder and it runs like a charm. It is extremely nice in that it can burn ogg files, as I do have quite a few of those but Nero did not really like me doing that – and also demanded I pay for their MP3 burning. As if I am going to pay them twice.

Truth be told, I didn’t pay them once – considering it came bundled with that DVD drive I got from Sony.

InfraRecorder also sports the same things than anyone else would need, burning images, making images, et cetera. This program, being such a thin small thing to install and having such power, really impresses the hell out of me. I rank this up there with 7-zip in being ‘Awesomeness’. I might just make a post of awesome if I find more than the less-than-5 that I know. (PortableApps, K-Meleon, KMlite, InfraRecorder, 7-zip, and ConText come to mind off the bat).

Halloween on the 31st would still be the biggest day of the celebration, having the trick or treating nights.  However between the 28th and the 31st it would be a national holiday, one celibrated by hedonism, parties, and blatant disregard for sleep.  Costuming, parties, and mayhem until the 31st.

The next two days – November 1st and 2nd – would be dedicated to Día de los Muertos – The Day of the Dead where the dead are honored and of course there are the traditional parades and celebration of those who have predeceased us all.

In the end it would begin in mayhem, and end in celebration of the dead.  A whole week of Halloween.  Four days (28-31) of absolute chaos, and then two days of reflection and celebration of the lives of those who passed.

Plus, for those four days leading to Halloween it would be a cathartic experience, dressing in masks and costumes, being able to act out our insanity with controlled chaos.  It would be quite the thrill.  Sanctioned mischief, tricks, and other nice things we have forgotten in our commercialized holidaying.  This is about getting back to the roots of running around like we’re insane.  That way, perhaps, we would all be a little more sane during the rest of the year.

I just can no longer see a world where someone will speak his mind like Carlin did.  Everyone else is too afraid to, everyone else is too cowed and cowardly to say shit for fear of some bullshit government censorship or visits from black suits.  Or, having their website shut down for bullshit.

Those two words, Fuck Hope.  I remember that political routine, and it shaped a large portion of my view of politics and politicians which was further reinforced by taking political science and language logic classes in college.  Fuck Hope indeed.  I know Paul won’t get elected this time around, and I know we have a choice between Obama and McCain.

The days of spam are dead in blog comments.  So… go get bot-cancer or something.

It is an abomination that protesters are cordoned off and placed in little cages away from the rallies and so far out of sight that their words can not be heard.  This is a new low for the government and the two fascist parties of the United States.  Anyone who thinks the Democrats are any different than the Republicans as a whole in their power structure and control is an ignoramus.  How can I prove this?  The exact same box-off-the-protesters methods will be used at both the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention; without question this is pretty much silencing of free speech and hindering the right to gather and protest.

Next thing you know they’ll be taking away more of the gun rights of the people – either party being guilty mind you.  For a people who cannot arm themselves are a people at the mercy of the government’s own police forces, and at the mercy of criminals.  The answer is to get rid of weapons bans, and also to get rid of other bans, while allowing for more lawsuits and bigger awards, additionally taking away a few more rights of criminals (i.e. being able to sue because they were shot while breaking into your home.  They should be billed for the bullet – not given a reward for a botched robbery).

This idiot nation is on its way to Empire and Collapse.  Rome was a republic (flawed I admit) that lasted for hundreds of years.  Then came Sulla, who broke the mold and became the first dictator.  However, Sulla retired and left Rome back to the people (he’s not all bad) and then came Julius Caesar who planned to do much of the same thing (fix Rome, get rid of some corruption, etc etc and then give it back when he could no longer rule or when he died – but that got a little messed up when he was killed and his bastard Nephew started the three-way rule that broke down… then declared himself emperor after having Julius Caesar’s real son executed). What happens with empires?  They grow complacent, they grow old, they begin to fray at the edges, they become weaker and weaker, then they collapse.  Even as a Democratic Empire we have become complacent with the so called new normal.  It is nothing more than a pure and utter lapse of national judgment… because everyone is getting stupid.

Back to the point.  Freedom is free – and there is nothing that should be paid for it except in the defence of it – not the defence of safety or the defence of security.  I would rather die a free man, and I would rather my children die free, than to die a scared lump of human waste in the fetal position in a corner, watching the terror flags go up and down and being afraid of outright violations of my rights.  You know what?  I am afraid of death, I am afraid of being hurt, and I am afraid of getting blown up or shot – but I am more afraid of that happening to me from another American citizen than a terrorist.  Even then, I would rather have it happen that way, then be treated like a cow or steer, rounded up and prodded along in lines and then strip searched in the name of security and safety.  I would rather have the uncertainty of no national ID card, and the scare of undocumented immigration than have my DNA, hair, and fingerprints stored in a national database.  I will always take uncertainty and unknown that comes with freedom over certainty and known that comes with the loss of liberty.  And yet… others continue to cling to the fallacy that is national security and ignore the messages of people like I, or like Ron Paul.

Live free, or die.   It is the only way to live.
