Electric Future – The Grid IIIB

Build the Robots.

If we were to use a new kind of power system that involved large pipes underground rather than smaller ones, let’s say these pipes are about as big as a NYC single track subway, and these lines ran to all the major cities and under all the highways – we could eliminate the hassle of digging them up. Humans could fit in them, inspect the massive double lines that ran through them – or in an alternate case robots could be used. Automatons which are able to detect and repair common errors with human input, along with the technologies that allow surgeons to make repairs using electronic tools over the internet could be used to carry out the most dangerous tasks underground. In addition to being a great backbone for the electrical grid and requiring another massive labor operation to spur the entire world’s economy – it could be upgraded without major inconveniences – and because it is powered a huge fiber optics network could be installed underground, putting our national throughput of technology way past 10gbs of the Internet2. Massive amounts of data could be transmitted at ones, speeds past a terabyte per second. With the right amount of actual lines it could transmit petabytes and even yottabytes. This would eliminate the usage of satellites – and save cash by not tossing trillions into space just to become space junk. Instead these satellite systems would only be used for intercontinental communications – and that’s just until I have a better way. This would allocate the resources for space that I would need for Project Venom and Project Jupiter while also furthering the Metaverse goal on earth.
