Electric Future, Vol. 2, The Grid, Part II.

First off let’s explore what we can do about the local grid system. As you probably know by now most electricity runs above ground, and some of it below ground; there are advantages and disadvantages to both systems that are quite complex in their own rights. An underground system would be impervious to wind, tornadoes, hurricanes, some flooding, hail, and idiots who cannot drive. However, massive rainfall and extended flooding can do a system that is based underground in. An above ground system is more likely to survive in a hilly area with mudslides, earthquakes, a high water table, and it is cheaper to implement by tenfold. Access to an underground system is basically digging up pipes and disrupting whatever is around the entire area while the above ground system is much easier to access – but it also means it is much easier to be an electrocution hazard with the mishaps that happen after any disaster. The solution to both these problems lies in the way we decided where above and below ground systems go. We need to decide based of efficiency – because frankly an above ground system in tornado ally is like putting pins in front of a senile bowlers driveway – you just know he’s going to snap and come out shooting with his 10 gauge shotgun calling the pins ‘Charlie’.

The construction of these systems should take no more than a few months, bulldozers and pipes will be shipped and manufactured at breakneck speeds, if Mexico needs to be incorporated to accomplish this task then so be it. Anyone not willing to work on this project or go through the training will be left behind to rot, or attempt to find work elsewhere. There are plenty of unemployed people throughout the world that can be trained and then used for these jobs. Think about it, there are six billion humans, employing the adults and the elderly who are capable will bring the workforce to nearly three to four billion men and women, children will be educated in systems that will pump out effective smart workers, and the breeding programs will ensure the next generations are smarter, better prepared, and better educated for these tasks. Useless dropouts will either work and become a part of the system or they will starve. The elderly who want work will have work, they will contribute until they no longer wish to – no one will be forced to work, but they will be compelled to by the income and benefits they will gain from the systems.

As these projects finish a better healthier workforce will emerge to meet the next challenges from a local system to a much larger system.
