I recently was able to hear a song I had not been blasted with over the radio the other day, and later I was able to hear it again. The song’s name is Handlebars and it is by the Flobots (there is a music video on youtube which has the song, however I do not know whether or not the video is official). I must say, that as a person that prefers classical music, heavy metal, and jazz - yet finds no joy in ‘hip hop’ or ‘rap’ and such, that this song is one of the few that I consider able to transcend whatever style it might be in.
I find it very easy to listen to (being able to understand what is said is important to me unless its a foreign band) and I rank it up as high as a few of the White Skull songs I have, and of course Devo and Doctor Steel (I have eccentric taste). Here is a link to it on youtube. I guess they’re up for a free thing in Denver tomorrow (today actually since it’s 1am) and will be playing at the library. I do appreciate what they have to say at their site and their upcoming projects to help the community and education. Anyways, the song flows along quite nicely, and it is a standout to me when compared to their other songs. I have no way of exactly describing the style, but if they do more like it… I’ll listen.
The words and the meanings are quite clear, and I think more folk should take a listen to the song. Anyways, this is probably my only song review until Devo comes out with a new song. Or another very special song comes along that I like. As for Dr. Steel’s music… it’s all just awesome.
