Today, after I heard, and then read about the Michael Vick scandal about the breeding and fighting of pit bulls for which he received a FEDERAL INDICTMENT (which are more often than not converted into convictions) I heard some startling things from local fanboys - you know, the undersexed addicts who seem to grasp obsessively to many things, like failing rental car enterprises, or stalk girls, or still listen to Cher even though she’s a half billion years older than they are… Well, I heard… Justifications for cruelty. “Pit bulls a bred to fight, they don’t feel pain” and “It ain’t so bad what he did, dogs ain’t humans” and my favorite “Pit Bulls are vicious horrible animals, they deserved what they got” - The latter being after I explained that they were strangled, drowned, and electrocuted to death, as reported in the indictment by ESPN. Now, I’m sorry, but if you can say that, then you are not worthy. Not worthy of… well… anything.

This dog is afraid of: Thunder, crickets, pickles, grapes, flashlights (the light beam), toothbrushes, loud sprinklers, smaller dogs, lawnmowers, vacuum cleaners, nail clippers (human and dog - the noise scares him), hair clippers (never used on him, the noise), cats, rabbits, squirrels, birds, grasshoppers, my old shoes that smell bad, yogurt, the gas line man (but oddly he likes everyone else), baby birds, The History Channel (Specifically Mail Call), and the fish in my fish tank. Yes, this pit bull is a vicious man eating killing machine bent on world domination - obviously. Now let me rip a new excremental hole out of each statement.

“Pit bulls a bred to fight, they don’t feel pain” - Not true at all. They may have a higher threshold but they do, as all dogs, frogs, cats, birds, humans (although at times they seem to be the least likely to notice) elephants, amphibians, and all other creatures on earth do, feel pain. In fact, I dare you to find me any mammal that does not feel pain or has no pain receptor cells. You can’t. This is just a bogus justification to commit acts of cruelty by putting one dog up against another for brutal fighting. You know what? I am glad Senator Byrd ripped everyone over the issue, at least one person seems to care. Put your ideological and logical fallacies beside, as it does not matter what the man has done in the past when it comes to this issue - he spoke truth. If you think brutalizing and or otherwise acting barbaric to dogs is okay, then I dare say the same should be done to you on public television with no choice in the matter. The dog did not choose to fight - they were forced to fight, and those that did not were electrocuted, hung, or shot.

“It ain’t so bad what he did, dogs ain’t humans” - very true my astute observer friend, however if it is fine for a human to do that to a dog, then perhaps it will not be too much trouble to go out and start frying chickens live, cutting cows up without killing them first - after all “They ain’t human” Yeah, really smart reasoning. Then let’s go of and start killing groups of humans with spikes because “They ain’t white”. Hmm, oh wait, that’s right. You’re a moron.

“Pitbulls are vicious horrible animals, they deserved what they got” - Utter bullcrap. In fact pitbulls pass the behavioral tests at an 82% success rate - while Labradors, border collies, cocker spaniels, and many other dogs pass at between 70-79%. What does this mean? Oh my gosh! Pitbulls are… friendly? Well no excremental matter Sherlock. The reason many appear as being mean, vicious, and otherwise ghastly is because what we humans have done to the breed is ghastly. Pitbulls, before WWII, were the American canine icon, even making it into WWI propaganda as being “The American Dog”. What happened? Idiots like Vick started dogfighting rings and gambling. Then the most aggressive ones were bred, until you have dogs prone to being super-aggressive and also their “training” is nothing more than brutalizing them into mean animals that hate how they are and are filled with rage. This is the true crime. Humans created the problem. Pitbulls should not be punished for the dumbassery of the human race - my dog is an example of a pitbull never roughed, never poked or prodded, never aggravated into aggression, and never beaten to get the desired results. What do I have? A normal dog.

There is no justification that is valid for the human cruelty inflicted upon lesser animals - especially the one we have had the longest as our companion species. Without dogs we’d have been less efficient hunters, and could very well not have our lovely little egotistic self-centered society today. As for Vick? I hope they throw all the books at him. If you think you know jack bull shat about pitbulls, and think they’re evil or prone to horrid behavior - you know jack f**king bullsh*t about the breed - and I encourage you to do that one thing Americans seem to hate to do. READ.
